Our Mission

Mission Statement

The mission of the Mid America Museum of Aviation & Transportation (MAMAT) is to explore, discover, and share Siouxland’s rich aviation and transportation history so that the stories of the past can live on through educational experiences, authentic historical aircraft, and transportation exhibits.                                                                                                adopted March, 2019

Sunday - CLOSED
Monday - 10 AM - 4 PM
Tuesday - CLOSED
Wednesday - CLOSED
Thursday - 10 AM - 4 PM

Saturday - 10 AM - 4 PM

Airfield
Sioux City, Iowa is located in western Iowa at the junction of the states of Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota, approximately 89 miles north of Omaha, Nebraska and 89 miles south of Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Interstate I-29.
There’s plenty of FREE on-site parking for cars, RVs, cars with trailers, motor coaches, school buses and semi tractor/trailers. ​

A Place for Youth Education to Take Flight

Education of youth is a critical component of The Mid America Museum of Aviation & Transportation’s overall mission. Providing opportunities for youth to experience the marvels of aviation and surface transportation history, science, technology and their social impacts can serve not only as the catalyst for future careers, but also motivate life-long learning and appreciation.
  • Further public understanding of aviation and surface transportation history, science, technology and social studies
  • Provide an informal, non-traditional classroom that will promote self-directed study and life-long learning
  • Collect and preserve, study, interpret and exhibit significant artifacts relating to all of aviation and surface transportation

Closed New Years, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
