Two Half Day Camp for 5th – 6th graders
9:00 am – 12:30 pm each day
Seats are limited
"Tennis Shoes on the Tarmac" is an exciting day camp designed for students entering 5th and 6th grades, with hands-on STEM lessons focused on aviation and rocketry. A new format of two half days will allow students to be involved in airfield operations.
Throughout the camp, students will have the unique opportunity to explore museum exhibits and get up close to real aircraft on the tarmac. They’ll learn about the fascinating history of flight, the science behind flight dynamics, and the basics of rocketry. Campers will design and build their own airplanes, experiment with different materials, and reflect on their work.
The camp’s classroom is inside a Boeing 727, offering students an immersive, real-world aviation experience. Each day camp begins at the air museum among a unique collection of early engineering in aviation, and ends with exciting airfield tours, giving students a behind-the-scenes look at airport operations and the chance to meet aviation professionals. These tours offer valuable insight into the many career opportunities in the aviation industry.
This hands-on, feet on the tarmac camp combines learning, and exploration for budding engineers and aviators!
Camp size is limited to 15 students per session to insure one on one instruction.
