If you have 2 or 20 hours to volunteer, the museum has work for you. If you are interested in collaborating to help bring education and history programs to life, let us know. The mission of the Mid America Museum of Aviation & Transportation requires the support of many talented and dedicated volunteers from around the states of Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. These volunteers come from a broad range of backgrounds and contribute their innumerable talents to achieving the museum’s mission.
The Mid America Museum has volunteer opportunities to match your interests and talents, and are available on an as needed basis. Some these opportunities may include:

Hawthorne Global Aviation, Revv Aviation, 1 Vision Aviation, Sioux Gateway Airport - for sponsoring our events this year Powell Broadcasting - for broadcasting and getting the word out about our events Sioux City Strollers and Bob Knowler - for partnering with the Pancake Breakfast and Hangar Talks Drone Pilots - KTIV, SC Police, Morningside Ag Dept - to share drone use in the area KCAU, KMEG, KTIV, Sioux City Journal, Siouxland Magazine - for sharing stories with the Siouxland area Anne and Corey Westra - for helping with the 30th Anniversary of Flight 232 CAF - Commemorative Air Force from Dallas - Brought a team of pilots, engineers, leaders to bring FIFI to the community. Ira Minen and Leon Husk helped with the CAF Visit - Fifi and T6 show. Suzanne and Randy Bartels helped develop the Tennis Shoes on the Tarmac STEM camp. Elissa Mickelson helped with updating direct mail and digital media. Morningside College Creative Edge Ad Team & Dr. Marilyn Eastman - Conducted market research and created a comprehensive ad campaign to refresh and upgrade museum communications. The Bartels and Grimm families - Helped with the rose and 232 gardens. Lindi Kiple - University of Iowa intern and Sergeant Bluff grad - Worked on museum history educational displays. Carla Edgington & the late Kay Crowl - Painted and updated displays throughout the museum! Morningside College - Into the Streets teams - Helped clean out a hugh storage area, cleaned windows and cabinets, pulled weeds from around the museum. John and Pat Bartholomew - Work on research B17 crews and nose art photography. Rick Alter, Gary Grasma, & Jim Loftus - Restored the Parade Plane, and Rick has been very active with restoring and donating vehicles for display. Verna Shockey - Volunteers at the front desk when needed. |
